BIO

I am a narrative-driven Commercial Product and Studio photographer, situated in a quaint seaside town in South Africa. Despite my location, I have the privilege of collaborating with outstanding local and international brands, alongside my creative partner, Jess. Residing outside bustling metropolises has granted me the freedom to conceptualize and execute photography that resonates with my passion without compromising my preferred lifestyle.

My affinity for photography is deeply rooted in family traditions, notably inherited from my grandfather, who unfortunately passed away at the close of 2023. Herbert's fascination with technology and video, evident since my early years, opened a world of opportunities when I was a mere 10 years old. Subsequently, I gained valuable industry knowledge and skills in video and motion during my three-years at the award winning RoofTop Productions. Over the next decade, I collaborated with a US production company Endless Echo, contributing to motion graphics and video editing while pursuing my studies in Photography. This journey allowed me to appreciate various mediums and the infinite ways they tell stories and capture the beauty of objects through time. Extensive travel further fueled my appreciation for diverse influences.

My primary focus revolves around collaborating with companies and creative teams to construct a visual repository of images that enhance their brand presence in the contemporary landscape. Whether dealing with a small or large business, I bring the same dedication and attention to detail to my photography. I value close collaboration with each client to establish a distinctive visual language for their brand. My keen appreciation for quality light and consistency enables me to seamlessly transition between still life in the studio and lifestyle photography on location, consistently producing a cohesive body of work regardless of the environment.

Away from the camera lens, you'll find me engaged in various pursuits, from constructing new additions to our home, to soaking up the sun on my longboard, exploring the Karoo with a glass of wine in hand or playing some riffs on the bass. An enthusiastic Lego hobbyist, supported wholeheartedly by my wife, I find joy in creating.

Feel free to reach out to me at hello@rosscharnock.com for more information on how I can contribute to your brand or to share your ideas for potential collaboration.

Side note: Yes, my cat gave consent for the photo, despite the unimpressed look. I have the necessary model release forms, along with his up-to-date vaccination card.
